Located in the cloisters of the former Benedictine monastery, in the monumental complex of San Vitale, theMuseo Nazionale(National Museum) contains important collections of the minor arts, including some funerary stelae and inscriptions, various archaeological finds, a collection of textiles (from Coptic to Renaissance), a beautiful collection of ivories, a valuable collection of icons, a numismatic section and a fascinating collection of ancient weapons.

Inside the museum there is also a cycle of fourteenth-century frescoes of Saint Clare, which adorned the Church of the Poor Clares in Ravenna, nowadays the Rasi Theatre.
