Rossini’s residence was the house at 25 Via Manfredi, which has a plaque on the outside commemorating the musician’s presence from 1802 to 1804. The house museum, recently restored on the initiative of the Lions Club of Lugo, is located at 14 Via Giacomo Rocca; photographs, documents and prints are kept here, showing the composer's links with the city. Although Rossini did not live there, he used to speak of it fondly, as it was a family possession.

Villa Malerbi is another stop on the Rossini tour; it was actually at the Malerbi Canons school that the young Rossini was taught “the first principles of playing and singing”. Such was his talent that, despite his tender years, the young musician was allowed to practice on a very valuable instrument, the organ in theChiesa del Carmine(Church of the Carmelites), built a few years earlier by the organbuilder Gaetano Callido.
