The hexagonal shaped tower with double rafters is Renaissance in style and is all that remains of a castle built by the Manfredi family, lords of Faenza from 1474.

The tower was the keep, which is the highest and strongest part of the castle, the last stronghold for retreat and defence in the event of a siege. It is hexagonal in shape with double rafters, as well as steeply raking walls to increase the effectiveness of flanking shots while at the same time reducing the impact of missiles. It is arranged on six levels, connected by a spiral staircase, which probably concealed a well inside it.
